Agreement to Terms
By accessing and using ClassCents (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service. These terms are designed to protect both educators and students in our learning environment.
Description of Service
ClassCents is a web-based classroom economy management platform designed exclusively for educational purposes. Our Service allows teachers to:
- Create and manage virtual classroom economies
- Track student participation and engagement
- Manage virtual currency and reward systems
- Generate educational reports and analytics
- Foster financial literacy and responsibility
- Encourage positive classroom behaviour
User Accounts & Responsibilities
Teacher accounts
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account
- You are responsible for maintaining account security and credentials
- You must be an authorized educator with legitimate educational interest
- You are responsible for all activities under your account
- You control all student data and classroom settings
- You ensure compliance with your institution’s policies
Student access
- Student accounts are created and managed entirely by teachers
- All student data is under teacher control and authority
- Students access the platform through teacher-provided credentials
- No direct registration or communication between ClassCents and students
- All permissions and consents are managed within the educational institution
- Student accounts are subject to teacher supervision and school policies
Acceptable Use Policy
To maintain a safe and educational environment, you agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts
- Upload or transmit viruses or harmful code
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Share content unsuitable for educational environments
- Reverse engineer or extract source code
- Use the platform commercially outside education
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service
Educational Use Only
ClassCents is designed exclusively for educational purposes and financial literacy learning.
- Virtual currency has no real-world monetary value
- All transactions are simulated for educational purposes only
- Platform teaches financial literacy and responsibility
- Real money transactions are strictly prohibited
- Rewards and points are for classroom motivation only
- No gambling or inappropriate reward systems allowed
Payment Terms
- Free accounts are provided at no cost with basic features included
- Pro subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected
- All payments are processed securely through Stripe — we do not store payment information
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
- You can cancel your subscription at any time through account settings
- Refunds are provided according to our 30-day satisfaction guarantee
- Price changes will be communicated 30 days in advance via email
- Educational discounts may be available for qualifying institutions
Data Protection & Privacy
Your use of ClassCents is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service you acknowledge and agree to:
- Data collection is limited to what’s necessary for classroom economy functionality
- All student data is under teacher control and educational authority
- We comply with FERPA and support COPPA compliance for educational use
- No data is sold, shared, or used for non-educational purposes
- Teachers are responsible for obtaining necessary permissions within their institutions
- Data retention follows our clearly outlined retention policies
- You can export or delete your data at any time
Service Availability
- We strive to maintain 99.9% uptime
- Scheduled maintenance announced in advance
- Emergency maintenance may occur without notice
- Updates and new features released regularly
Intellectual Property
- You retain ownership of your educational content
- ClassCents owns the platform technology and features
- Limited license granted for educational use only
- Respect for third-party IP required
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ClassCents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the Service.
Termination
- You may terminate your account at any time
- We may terminate accounts that violate these Terms
- Access ceases immediately upon termination
- Data retention follows our Privacy Policy
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Disputes will be resolved through appropriate legal channels with a preference for mediation.
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Users will be notified of material changes via email and through the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
