About ClassCents
ClassCents is a classroom economy built by a teacher: students earn a salary from class jobs, spend at the class store, and save for goals — practicing real financial literacy all year.
My story
Hi, I'm Josh, a teacher and father who's also a hobbyist software developer. I believe technology can make learning more engaging and meaningful. ClassCents started as a simple idea: what if we could teach financial literacy while making classroom management more fun?
After experiencing firsthand how teachers struggle with motivation and engagement, I realized that gamification could be the key. But not just any gamification — one that teaches real skills like budgeting, saving, and making smart financial decisions.
ClassCents is my way of giving back to the education community, providing teachers with a tool that not only manages their classroom but also prepares students for financial success in the real world.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
— Nelson Mandela
